Amethyst Jewellery - The most striking Jewel

If you are shopping for an amethyst ring then you will be wooed and drawn by its subtly seductive color. Amethyst comes in a striking violet color and it is believed that it will protect you from seduction. How ironical!

For a long-long time, amethyst has been one of the most striking stone from the quartz family and it has adorned the thrones and crowns of prince and princesses. The great Moses said that it is the symbol of the Spirit of God. Its name was derived for the Greek word 'amethystos' meaning not intoxicated. The amethyst is the birthstone of those who were born in the month of February. Over the centuries, many faiths and beliefs have been formed around this magical stone. Some say that it can protect your crops against locusts and storm while others believe that it will bring good fortune in war, destroy evil spirits and enhance the intellect.

Those are man made beliefs but gemstone therapists have a different view. They believe that this magnificent stone can have a cleansing effect on the wearer. But above all the stone symbolizes a strong bond of friendship. In the early ages, amethyst was mostly worn by bishops and cardinals. The hardness of this stone is 7 on the Moh's scale, and it permits moderate refraction but its crystal structure is most unconventional. The crystal structure construction of the amethyst is stratified and due to this, you will find certain lamellae and areas having varying color intensity.

If you come across a large cut amethyst then you will find that the color is not uniform across the stone. Scientists owe this variation in color to certain iron constituents that are connected to the natural radioactive radiation.

Amethyst also changes its color when heated and it can become yellow or colorless when heated at 400 degrees. There are few rare incidents where people have found bi-colored amethyst and this has been named ametrine.

There are some amethysts that will turn pale or colorless in broad daylight. Although the reason behind this phenomenon still eludes scientists but you can re-color your amethysts by using radium radiation. Since amethysts can lose its color hence it is always advised that amethysts jewelry or rings should not be worn while sunbathing or when you are in a solarium. Apart from the sunlight, even extreme change in temperatures can cause damage to the stone.

The biggest deposit of amethysts has been found in Brazil and Uruguay. The third country that has amethysts deposit is Madagascar. The largest cavity of amethyst was discovered in Rio Grande do Sul in 1900. Diggers found dark violet amethysts that were as big as an adult fist and weighed almost 700 cwt. Today, as compared to diamonds, ruby, and sapphire, the cost of amethysts is much lower but that doesn't mean it is any less precious. The amethyst is not just another stone, it is a beautiful part of nature that when worn by your loved one will pass on a part of its radiance to her. That's the magic of Amethyst.

Watch Repair - Be Smart When Your Watch Needs To Be Fixed

In today's society with its hectic pace watches have become an integral part of how people function. Getting to work on time, making sure the kids arrive at school on time, making deadlines, and never being late to an appointment are all time oriented. Hence, every household needs a watch of some kind.

We have all been in the position of having our most used watch suddenly break down just when we needed it most. Perhaps you accidentally dropped your watch and the case came undone, and the first thought that came to mind is to get it to a watch repair outlet to get it functional again. Nevertheless, prior to you doing that, stop for a moment and take into consideration the following factors which will prove useful.

Elements to Take Into Consideration About Your Watch

The brand of the wrist watch is obviously highly significant, and since it is an expensive brand name watch it would not be in your best interest to take it to a basic repair store. The best course of action is to take it to a dealer that is authorized to work on these brands.

The primary reason for doing this is that the majority of designer brands will carry their specific parts, and if you allow someone other than an authorized dealer to open the watch your guarantee might become void and the work that is done on the watch may not be completed as hoped for in the end.

If your watch has some kind of precious gem incorporated into the case or the dial itself you clearly have to bring the watch to a jewelry watch repair store so that you can be certain that the gems inside the watch will not become damaged while the watch is being repaired.

As noted if your watch is in the guarantee time period, you should not bring it to a basic watch repair store but only the retail outlet you purchased it from. If it becomes tampered with by someone that is not the authorized dealer you will very likely forfeit the guarantee that it had.

Watches that are inexpensive (typically $20 or less) are typically constructed so that they are unable to be repaired. Watches such as these are normally a one shot deal, and if they are broken or cease to function for whatever reason then they will need to be discarded and another one will need to be purchased.

Hence, if you eventually need to bring it to a watch repair store, it is in your best interest to not to indulge in spending a small fortune to get it to work again if it becomes broken, but if the costs become more than the original price that you paid for it, you may as well get yourself a brand new watch.

Maintain Your Watch

So as to avoid the expense of having watch repair in the future, take some time every now and then to take care of your watch. For instance, if your watch is not water resistant, do not take it into the shower. Also, do you best not to drop it, and it is best if you do not sleep with your watch. Last but certainly not least, attempt at bringing your watch in for a service visit every couple of years and if it happens to be an expensive brand, then every year.

What Wearing Silver Jewelry Reveals About Your Personality

The jewelry we wear speaks volumes about our personality. Unlike clothing that you may wear for one season and forget about, jewelry is a choice that requires a bit more of a commitment. Because jewelry lasts longer than the latest clothing fad, we tend to choose styles that represent our innermost personality.

There are essentially two camps of jewelry fans - those who prefer silver jewelry and those who prefer gold. Some may appreciate and wear both, but just about everyone has a preference to one over the other. If you're the type who likes intricate silver necklaces, sterling silver rings, and designer inspired jewelry in brilliant silver, your choice reveals quite a bit about your personality.

You're Not the Type to Follow the Crowd

Gold jewelry is most often represented in commercials and given the most prominent real estate in the jewelry stores. However, there is a huge following of people who prefer the pleasing look of silver to gold. This group isn't influenced by what the masses think is the most elegant precious metal. They follow their own heart, their own passions, and have their own unique style.

Your More Interested In Natural Beauty Than Glam

Having lots of gold bling is great if you're going for the glam look, but gorgeous sterling silver rings, richly intricate silver necklaces, and ornate silver earnings have an air of classic beauty. Beautiful, strong women have adorned their bodies in silver in every culture and society from Native American tribes to today's classic Hollywood celebrities.

You Have a Solid Foundation of Self Confidence

Sure you could refinance your home to buy a giant diamond solitaire set in 24-karat gold. But you're not the type to spend your kids college fund on a diamond when you could have silver cz jewelry that looks just as elegant. You don't feel the need to brag about the karats on your hand, and feel just as beautiful in stunning silver cz jewelry that looks as wonderful as it's price tag.

You're On Target With Today's Trends

Silver is the new gold in Hollywood today. Celebrities like Oprah, Angelina Jolie, J.Lo, and Victoria Beckham are sporting silver these days. And even if you don't have a celebrity bank account, you can afford stunning designer inspired jewelry modeled in today's hottest trends. Just because Katherine Mcphee's silver earrings are studded with diamonds doesn't mean that you can't have silver cz jewelry that looks just as fabulous.

Ben Affleck showed that he had style and class when he presented J. Lo with a sliver colored engagement ring topped with an amazing 6-karat pink diamond. But even the budget conscious silver lover can steal the look when it's from a collection of fine silver cz jewelry.

Whether your style is classic sterling silver rings or high fashion silver cz jewelry, silver is a choice that tells the world that you are stylish, independent, self confident, and appreciative of natural beauty.

Selecting the Perfect Father's Day Jewelry Gift

When contemplating gifts to give Dad on Father's Day, jewelry is usually not the first thing that comes to most sons' and daughters' minds. Even so, although few people are aware of it, the industry of men's jewelry is growing fast, as uniquely masculine jewelry items are increasingly in demand. Best of all, those who are in on this secret have a unique shortcut to a wealth of gift ideas. While other sons and daughters are agonizing over which traditional, father-friendly gift to buy, you can be browsing any online jewelry store, exploring thousands of jewelry options that most fathers are sure to love.

While searching for Father's Day jewelry gifts, the most important thing to remember is to personalize the gift as much as possible. To give a gift that is not perfectly suited to the recipient can come across and poorly thought-out and off the cuff. Carefully consider your father's interests, and when browsing through your options, imagine which items you can see him actually wearing or using on a regular basis. If your father is the type who would be reluctant to wear jewelry, keep this in mind, and look for an item that has overtly masculine or personalized qualities. Or, even better, find an item that fulfills a completely utilitarian purpose.

Also, don't forget that jewelry is symbolic and meaningful, no matter who it is being given to. Just as wedding rings symbolize the permanent bond of love and marriage, jewelry gifts for fathers should express love and appreciation, even if this message is buried beneath other meanings.

Cuff links are one example of a jewelry item that fulfills a utilitarian purpose. Of course, they have always been a completely valid gift to give to Dad or any other male gift recipient, and this hasn't changed. If anything, the range of cufflink options has only expanded, with items ranging from the simple and inexpensive to finely shaped 14k gold. Quirky, personalized cufflinks are always popular, but for very special occasions, all fathers need at least one very fine set in gold or sterling silver.

Meanwhile, key chains are another type of jewelry that serve a real function, while also being fine and beautiful objects. A gold key chain will keep all of Dad's keys organized, while also providing a constant reminder of how much he is loved and appreciated.

Money clips are another similar item. When we think of jewelry, most of us rarely think of money clips, but in fact, they come in 14k gold and sterling silver just like other items of jewelry. If your father loves money -- and many fathers do -- this is an option you should seriously consider.

As for more decorative jewelry items for fathers, bracelets are a great place to start. Sterling silver rolo bracelets can be a handsome addition to Dad's wardrobe, and are great for both special occasions and everyday use. Or, 14k gold and rubber bracelets combine a traditional jewelry material with a material more often associated with masculine professions and lifestyles.

Additionally, you can find rings, necklaces, charms, and pendants that can both express your appreciation and reflect your father's personality. Pendants and charms, in particular, come in thousands of designs, and can be used in a variety of ways. If your dad likes sports, cars, or fishing, for instance, there are charms and pendants that fit into all of these categories.

The key is to go online and browse through the men's jewelry options that you can find. A brief search will reveal a surprisingly huge number of options. And of course, the best part is that, in all likelihood, Dad will feel surprised and refreshed upon receiving such an unexpected, but wonderful, gift.

How to choose jewelry that will look great

Avoid making expensive mistakes

Picking jewelry can be fun and thrilling. But, it can be a little daunting too, especially if you're choosing big ticket items! This guide is to assist you select the perfect item, whether it is for you or a gift for someone special.

Silver or Gold?
Generally speaking, if you have a skin color that suits warm colors then you should be wearing gold or gold colored jewelry. People with pink complexions or who are very pale would be better suited to silver or silver colored (including titanium or white gold). Very dark people can look equally stunning in silver or gold.

Your physique
If you are a larger person, chunky jewelry will suit you best. Petite, dainty jewels are likely to look lost.

On the other hand, if you are a petite person, wearing lots of large, bold jewelry could make you look like Mr T!

Consider your lifestyle
When picking your jewelry you need to consider your way of living and what the item is for:

If you intend to wear your jewelry most of the time and you're an active, sporty person....large drop earrings are just going to bother you. If you're selecting something to wear on a special occasion, a substantial claw-set ring would be fine.

Rings
Rings look great on well maintaned hands. If you bite your nails, maybe you could utilize buying a gorgeous ring as an excuse to kick the habit!

Some people like to wear just the one ring whereas others like to wear a couple per hand. The decision is up to you, but try not to wear too many...usually less is more.

Bracelets & Bangles
Bracelets and bangles can look beautiful, but again less is usually more unless you have very thin arms. If your arms are somewhat large you may be better to steer clear bracelets as they can be annoying if they're too tight. Most bracelets are a standard size of 7" although it is possible to find 8" length bracelets too.

Necklaces
If you have a long neck you'll find that shorter necklaces look fantastic. Try chokers (16") or Princess (18"-20"). If you have a shorter neck, go for longer length necklaces, maybe try either opera length (30"-36") or a lariat (a long-strand, open-ended necklace usually looped in a knot or used with a slide so the two ends hang free).

Earrings
When selecting earrings you should to consider your face shape. People with round faces should go for angular shaped earrings, drop earrings also look great.
People with square and diamond shaped faces look great in round studs and also dangly earrings.
People with oblong shaped faces should avoid dangly earrings as it can make their faces look over-long.
People with triangle shaped faces can wear all styles (lucky you!).

For Brides

Choosing Bridal Jewelry To Suit Your Dress And Veil

When trying on jewelry for your special day you can't really wear your dress in the jewelers! Instead, try to wear a shirt that is the same color as your gown. If you can, select a shirt that also has the same (or similar) neckline.
If you are going to wear your hair up then make sure it is up when you try on the jewelry in the shop.

First, your necklace. If your gown has a lot of fine detail in the top, you'll be better picking a simple design for the necklace otherwise your gown and jewelry will end up competing with one another. If you have a very simple dress, try something with a large stone or pendant for a dramatic look.

Pearls are an obvious selection, but you can always try something different, even with a splash of color to liven things up a little.

If you are wearing your hair up, choosing drop earrings can look stunning. But, classic, glittering diamond studs are hard to better.

If you are having a veil, you need to treat it as a separate item of jewelry, especially any clips or tiaras that assist in holding the veil in place. Try to make sure your jewelry matches for example picking pearls as a central theme to ensure it all matches well.

The best advice is to select one item that you simply love and make that the focal item. Tie other pieces in using color or style as a theme.

Spoil yourself!

And don't forget to look on the Internet for pieces. Often you can find something on the Internet that you just wouldn't be able to find or afford in normal jewelers in the local mall. Plus, there is the added advantage that not everyone will be wearing the same as you! Take a look...the world is your oyster! To check out some fantastic designs either for you or as a gift, simply click on the link below. Alle use only the finest metals and gemstones to make gorgeous pieces of jewelry that will make you (or your loved one) feel truly beautiful.

Cartier Watches

Exoticism and Sensuality Upon the Wrist: The Cartier La Dona de Cartier watch

The Cartier La Dona de Cartier watch is a stunningly designed luxury timepiece that illuminates the exotic preferences of a luminous film star as well as the mastery of luxurious design and superb craftsmanship - two facets virtually synonymous with the house of Cartier.

A tribute to the sensual Mexican actress and Cartier patron Maria Felix, the La Dona de Cartier watch is modeled after the magnificent necklace which the star commissioned from Cartier after a visit to the Paris boutique in 1975 -- accompanying her on this trip was a live baby crocodile, which the flamboyant actress requested be a model for a stunningly original piece of luxury jewelry. The result was a singular masterpiece of the jeweler's art and a uniquely personal homage to a luminous celebrity.

Like the original Cartier necklace made famous by Maria Felix, the La Dona de Cartier watch evokes a sensuality which is inspired by the exotic form and untamed reptilian savagery of the crocodile. Supple, fluid, and unique, the interlocking bracelet links display superlative finish and flow harmoniously to offer an exceptional comfort on the wrist, as well as a strikingly stylish presence. The trapeze-shaped case excites with its asymmetric form, counterbalancing the classical details of the elegant Roman numeral dial, with its silver sun-pattern decoration, and blued steel sword hands.

The Cartier La Dona de Cartier watch is presented in both small and large sizes, and is available in 18K yellow, white, or pink gold, as well as stainless steel. Magnificent diamond-set versions, including those with full pave setting reveal the enviable skill of Cartier's master jewelers, while versions with alligator straps and finely crafted deployant clasps are ideal for those who desire the mystique of this luxury watch, but prefer maximal subtlety. The singular, exotic elegance of this modern Cartier classic is thus tailored to the widest array of expressive preferences.

Fitted with a highly precise, battery-operated quartz movement, each Cartier La Dona de Cartier timepiece is a superbly reliable timekeeper. As is the case with every Cartier watch, the La Dona de Cartier is fitted with an extremely hard crystal crafted from synthetic sapphire. All models are water resistant to 30 meters.

Aromatherapy jewelry is a great way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils wherever you go.Aromatherapy jewelry has been around for quite some time; various cultures, such as Native Americans and some individuals in Hispanic countries have worn aromatherapy jewelry for years in order to provide total fragrance for the body.

Aromatherapy jewelry worn on the body all day needs to be refilled often, and you can use oils like tangerine oil, which helps to awaken the senses and relieve muscle pain, or more traditional oils such as spearmint or peppermint, which can relax the stomach muscles and aid in indigestion. Create a Perfect Gift With Italian Charms

If you enjoy collecting jewelry with personal significance or giving it as gifts, consider Italian charms! They are the most affordable way to create a personalized bracelets with unique meaning. And, there is an amazing variety to choose from.

Whether you love dogs, cats, or want something signifying your family or hobby, it's all there! And, unlike their classic dangling counterparts, Italian charms link together to form a flat bracelet; for a more sophisticated look enjoyed by women of all ages.

It's no surprise, then, that tens of thousands of women each year collect Italian charms and give them as gifts. How to get started?

Easy! Whenever buying for yourself or as a gift, the first thing you need to do is get a "starter bracelet" containing blank links. Then, get an additional 4-5 charms to start the bracelet. The recipient can easily replace blank links on the starter bracelets with the charms you give them -- and any others they get in the future -- to develop a unique bracelet over time.

The Secret to Selecting Quality Italian Charms

When looking to buy Italian charms, it's important to consider quality. Indeed, there are so many places selling these things that sometimes it's difficult to separate the good from the bad.

Here are some things to watch out for:

* Make sure they are made of stainless steel (the place where you buy them should say that.) If you really want to get technical, ask them what grade of stainless steel their charms are. They should know, especially if they claim to sell "direct", because on the manufacturing end stainless steel has exact grades. Usually, it's a number (like 304) followed by a letter. You'd see them labeled as 304L or 316.

* Charms marked with a logo or brand-name on the back are considered higher quality. You never know, but generally avoid links that are "blank" / have no logo on the back. What about charms that say "Stainless Steel" on the back? Well, I've seen a few that were definitely NOT stainless steel... so use caution.

* Make sure the site you're ordering from has a money-back guarantee and check any customer comments posted on there.

* It's important to order charms that are covered with protective epoxy. Otherwise they'll rub off! If the site doesn't state whether they are or not, ask them.

* You'll find that many site sell "18kt gold" Italian charms. Well, with very few exceptions, it's a gold-tone and not sold 18kt gold. Just make sure that if you're paying 18kt gold prices ($18+ per charm) that you indeed getting 18kt gold. Again, nearly all sites sell 18kt gold-tone (or gold accented) charms. Why pay $18 for the same product if you could get for under $3... and even for $2, and sometimes $1/charm?

* A note about care: Even stainless steel charms can change color when exposed to chemicals, cleaning solutions, and solvents. Avoid chlorine and any harsh chemicals.

What about the Chinese-Made Italian Charms?

Yes, a lot of people ask that question. Very few merchants admit it... but, nearly all Italian charms sold on the Internet are manufactured in China.

Now, what about charms that say "imported from Italy?" Well, that's nice, but did you know that many of these places simply buy Chinese-made Italian charms through an import company in Italy. So, yes, they're "imported from Italy" but if you think you're getting a handcrafted Italian product... think again! They're still manufactured in one of the three main factories in China.

Which Charms are Great For Gifts?

Well... really, all of them! Charms that are especially popular are, in no particular order: 1) Heart charms, 2) Ribbon (esp. pink ribbon) charms, 3) American flag, 4) Flowers, 5) Family and I love my kids-type charms, 6) Birthstones, 7) Various words and phrases... like "DREAM", "Family of 5", "Child of GOD", etc. 8) Religious charms, like crosses, etc.

As you can see, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

Shopping for Sterling Silver Wedding Rings

Whether you're picking out rings for an upcoming ceremony or are simply looking to replace an old or outgrown ring, sterling silver wedding bands may be the answer that you have been searching for. In addition to its durability and strength, sterling silver is a precious metal that can last a lifetime with the proper care.

Traditionally, a wedding band is a highly polished band of either gold or sterling silver. Available in both slender and wide widths, these classic bands offer the design of an unbroken circle meant to symbolize eternal love and the unbreakable bond between a husband and wife. While these traditional styles are still very desirable, a modern approach to wedding band designs has emerged with great popularity. Among them, bands engraved with names and dates and even those accented with diamonds and other gemstones.

When it comes to choosing the perfect sterling silver wedding bands, the selection process begins with the design preference. Whether you prefer a polished band, a personalized engraving or channel set gemstone accents, sterling silver remains an affordable choice. In addition to being sizable, sterling silver wedding bands offer a bold look at a fraction of the price when compared to other precious metals. With regular cleansing with the use of a polishing cloth, a sterling silver ring can shine for many years to come.

Aside from the actual design of a ring, its size is also a very important aspect to consider when shopping for sterling silver wedding bands. If you already know your ring size, then you're ready to shop. If you aren't quite sure or often feel that you may be between ring sizes, visit a jeweler for an accurate sizing. When shopping, it's wise to keep in mind the width and thickness of the band before choosing a size. For instance, a woman who typically wears a size 6 may need to go up one size if the band is especially wide or thick. The same is true of a man who is shopping for the perfect ring. When shopping online, it's often easier to find a specific ring design in a choice of sizes. Unlike a local jewelry store, which may only carry several rings in a common size, online retailers typically offer a variety of sizes to suit every customer. If you are unable to find the size you need, you will be glad to know that sterling silver is sizable by most jewelers. This is especially helpful if you are between whole sizes and feel most comfortable in a half-size, such as 6-1/2 or 7-1/2 for example.

Speaking of customizing your sterling silver wedding bands for the perfect fit and style, the majority of wide band rings are perfect for engraving. After purchasing a highly polished band or one that features a solid surface on the underside of the ring, simply ask your local jeweler to engrave your choice of names, the wedding date or even a special message. In some cases, the bride or groom will have a special message engraved into the band meant for their intended.

In conclusion, shopping for wedding bands is not as difficult as one may think. Once you find the perfect person to give the ring to, it will be easy to choose one that fits his/her style.

Popular Styles in Cubic Zirconia Rings

A ring is defined as a small circular band, typically of precious metal, that is designed to be worn around the finger. In most cases, however, a ring is so much more. It is not only something to be worn, but also admired and treasured as a part of one's jewelry collection. When you purchase a ring for yourself or someone that you love, it should be a style that reminds you of the wearer.

Modern ring styles include everything from large solitaires to fancy clusters and even multi-stone designs. Quite often, jewelry trends are dictated by the season and/or upcoming holidays. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, cubic zirconia rings featuring the design of a heart are at the top of the list for many jewelry lovers. Although the heart motif is always in style, it's even more so during the month of February as gift-giving is often done with heartfelt sentiment in mind. Whether it be a solitaire heart or a cluster ring, you cannot go wrong with this classic at any time of the year.

In recent years, the 3-stone jewelry design has soared in popularity. To this day, the trend continues with new twists that are sure to make your eyes shine. For many, the 3-stone design represents the past, present and future. For others, it may represent the number of children, grandchildren or even siblings that one has. For instance, a 3-stone ring could be given to a mom who has three children. Whatever the occasion or meaning, the design is always in style and could even be considered tomorrow's classic.

Speaking of classic, a piece of jewelry that earns this distinction is one that has been judged over a period of time as being of the highest quality. A birthstone is a gem that's associated with a particular birth month and is determined based on the date that a child is born. One of the most popular designs in cubic zirconia rings is that of the simulated birthstone. Created to imitate the same color as that of a genuine gemstone, cubic zirconia is a flawless and affordable alternative to their natural inspirations. Below is a list of each calendar month, along with the birthstone for that month:

1. January - Garnet
2. February - Amethyst
3. March - Aquamarine
4. April - Diamond
5. May - Emerald
6. June - Pearl
7. July - Ruby
8. August - Peridot
9. September - Sapphire
10. October - Opal
11. November - Topaz
12. December - Turquoise

If you're searching for any of the aforementioned birthstone choices, you will be glad to know that the majority of these gems are recreated in the form of cubic zirconia. When it comes to wearing cubic zirconia rings, nothing is more tailored to an individual person than that of their very own birthstone. For those born in the month of June, which carries a pearl as the birthstone, or December, which is that of the turquoise, you will find a variety of both simulated pearls and turquoise in today's jewelry market.

Still aren't sure if you're favorite ring style is making news in the world of jewelry? You can check out the latest trends by browsing through your favorite fashion catalog and noticing the jewelry worn by models, flipping through the pages of a leading women's magazine featuring fashion and accessories or simply by watching television and taking special notice of what's being worn by television news anchors. When you're ready to start shopping, the confidence that you have gained in knowing exactly what you want will be a very important first step to finding the perfect cubic zirconia rings.

Titanium Watches

Renowned as the most comfortable watch metal around, titanium is lightweight, easy to care for, and is currently the hottest fashion choice in watches. Titanium Watches are favorites among watch connoisseurs and those who enjoy the finer things in life.

THERMAL SENSATIONS

Much the way that marble always feels cool, metals also have specific standing temperatures. When we put these metals against our skin, our thermal receptors respond to the new stimuli (the metal); cooler metal quickly draws heat from our warm skin, and the thermal receptors send a message to the brain reporting that the metal is cold. It is the sudden change in temperature - not the metal itself - that dictates thermal comfort.

TEMPERATURE CONDUCTIVITY

Although all metals conduct heat efficiently, stainless steel, aluminum, and gold conduct heat much more rapidly than titanium. This quick heat conduction creates a noticeable feeling of cold when the metal is touched to our skin. In very warm temperatures, such as in hot summer sunlight, the metal quickly absorbs the outside air temperature, and increases the temperature of the metal causing a watch to be extremely uncomfortable. In the same way that a spoon left inside a saucepan will quickly take on the temperature of the pot boiling on the stove, so too will many metals when in contact with a very warm environment.

Titanium watches do not experience such a dramatic heat transfer, due to the fact that titanium is a less efficient heat conductor. Ultimately, this makes for a far more comfortable watch: The wearer of a titanium watch does not feel sudden cold or extreme heat based on outside temperature; titanium retains its neutral temperature for much longer than most other metals. Choose the best brand before you buy Titanium watches.

HOT FASHION

Scientific information about heat transfer is all well and good, but perhaps the number one reason why so many people choose titanium watches is because of their beautiful look and continual, long-wearing comfort.

No matter why you think they're cool, titanium watches are a hot fashion choice everyone can agree on.

Citizen Watches

Founded in 1930, Citizen has grown from a small watch company to the largest watch manufacturer in the world. Today, no other watchmaker is more cherished and admired than Citizen. Buy Citizen watches from an authorized dealer like www.kenmarwatches.com. Citizen watches offer one of the best assortments of both men's and ladies watches.

The Worlds Largest Diamond Was Found

At last, the largest diamond in the world had found a worthy contender. Under preliminary forecasts of experts the weight of the new diamond-champion is one 1.5 kg.

Before now the largest diamond in the world was the Cullinan diamond. This diamond was found in the British province Transvaal (nowadays the Republic of South Africa) in 1905. The weight of the ex-champion Cullinan is 3106 carat (621.2 gr.). The diamond was named for Sir Thomas Cullinan, who had discovered the Premier in Transvaal three years earlier. The diamond amazes not only by its size but also its cleanliness, absence of mineral inclusions, cracks, and bubbles.

The Cullinan diamond was presented to the reigning British monarch, King Edward VII, in 1907. It's interesting that diamond represents a splinter (about 1/3 part) of larger diamond, but it haven't found till now.

The diamond was cut into 9 large stones and about 100 smaller ones by I.J. Asscher and Company of Amsterdam. The Cullinan diamond decorates the brow of the Imperial State Crown of Great Britain about one hundred years.

Nowadays, the 7000-carat diamond (1.5 kg) was found in the same country. Under armed guard the new diamond will be delivered in Johannesburg, the capital of the Republic of South Africa, where diamond will be determined its exact weight and the size with a help of special technical equipment.

What company possesses this precious find? It is not yet announced. However, during all last century the leadership in world production of diamonds belonged to giant De Beers who supervised about 65 % of all diamond market till now.

Today the Republic of South Africa takes fifth place in extraction of rough diamonds in the world, giving place only to Australia, Botswana, Russia and Congo.

Russia also does not giving in a diamond race. So, the diamond-mining company Alrosa has a quarter of world's diamond mining.

In the beginning of August a big deposit of rough diamonds was discovered in Yakutia. Russia's diamond giant Alrosa has discovered a big deposit of rough diamonds in Yakutia. The worth of its reserves is estimated at $3.5 billion. The deposit of such extent was last discovered in Yakutia ten years ago.
The new Verkhne-Munskoe deposit unites three kimberlite pipes located 130 kilometers from Udachninsky Mining and Processing Plant of Alrosa. The deposit is forecasted to last for 25 years, yielding from 1.2 million tons to 2 million tons of stones.

In terms of geological survey, Alrosa has outmatched the best indicators of former Soviet Union, the company announced in the news release of April 2007. Nowadays, for instance, Alrosa is setting up the 4th exploration expedition in the northern part of Yakutia's diamond province.

It is mentioned that Russia had became the first country in volume of export of rough diamonds in 2005. To tell the truth, the Russian Federation had taken the top position only by physical volume of the diamonds taken out abroad. The leader in the finance of export had become the Botswana (25 % of world's diamond export). It is supposed that in 2007 Russia will increase considerably in turnover because of the opening of new diamond fields.

Jewelry Symbols of Hope

By definition, hope is a feeling of want or desire to get something, do something or for something to happen. For most people, this word has a very individual meaning. For instance, someone may have hope in earning a college degree, starting a family or simply finding happiness. Whatever the term means to you, it's a wonderful way to live every day with hope in your heart. If you are looking to add this special sentiment to your jewelry collection, there are a number of symbols and/or styles that you can wear and enjoy.

Many of us love gemstones and appreciate the color that they add to our jewelry collection, but what we may not always realize is that every gem has its own special meaning. Pink Tourmaline, for instance, is the gemstone of hope. This bright, medium-pink stone is considered to be rare and is highly sought after in the world of jewelry.

When it comes to hope, many people look toward their religion for comfort. Cross jewelry, for example, can provide wearers with a great sense of hope. A prayer box, typically worn as a pendant or bracelet charm, is a small box that features a hinged lid. Many wearers enjoy placing a handwritten prayer inside, or possibly penned words of encouragement.

A dove may a small bird, but its symbolism is very significant. Many newlyweds release doves at their wedding, which can signify happiness and hope. The image of a dove in a jewelry accessory may provide the wearer with a sense of possibility or a new beginning.

To many, the symbol of an angel is reminiscent of a guardian, a protector and a symbol of hope. For those who choose to wear the image of an angel in their jewelry, they often feel comforted. As one of the most popular symbols in jewelry, the angel design is easily found in various pendant or charm styles.

If you still aren't sure which symbol best describes your definition of hope, think of something that you wish for. If you hope for sunnier days in your future, consider jewelry with a sun motif. If you're reaching for a goal, perhaps the image of a star would suit you well. If you are hoping for a little better luck in the coming year, perhaps the image of a clover, horseshoe, ladybug or an elephant would be your jewelry of choice.

In conclusion, the jewelry that you wear may or may not be anything more than a fashion statement. When one design goes out of style, another is sure to take its place. With so many trends on the forefront of fashion, it's often impossible to know what's 'hot' and what's 'not' on any given day. When choosing the pieces that you wear, however, it's worth noting that symbols of hope are timeless. A jewelry accessory that gives you hope or reminds you to never give up on the things that mean the most will far outlast the trends of today or tomorrow.

Bloody Jewelry Market

"Do you know that a diamond which you buy was paid by a human life?" This was written on the poster representing the 4-years child with amputated hands. The massive campaign against trade in contraband diamonds has been beginning from such lethal evident propaganda.

The human rights organization Global Witness received the grant from the government of the Great Britain for the development of the effective system of tracking of the diamonds arriving in the market from Angola. Then Global Witness has started the unprecedented action against contraband which has already led to the revolutionary changes in industry.

In Antwerp - the world's main trade center of diamonds - the World Diamond Congress under pressure of the public has started the development of an international certification and monitoring system to control the import/export of rough diamonds. This system should put a barrier to the market for deliveries of contraband rough diamonds from zones of military conflicts.

De Beers, established in 1888, is the world's leading diamond company with unrivalled expertise in the exploration, mining and marketing of diamonds. De Beers and its joint venture partners operate in more than 20 countries across five continents employing.

Earlier, De Beers Group - the world's famous monopoly that had defined shaky well-being of many African economics and also well-being of diamond business in Europe, Asia and America for a long time - has reacted to attack of the public. For more than seventy years, Southern African Group De Beers that has controlled deliveries, selling and also diamond's pricing, had resolved to the radical reforming.

The Chairman of the De Beers Group Nicky Oppenheimer has arrived to London to explain new reforms to its 125 joint venture partners. De Beers hosted a members meeting and international conference in London. Delegates representing the governments of producing nations, non-governmental organizations, and the trade and general press were also in attendance.

Laws of the free market had come to change gentlemen's agreements. This is contracts renewed time in two years by principle "money forward". Besides De Beers Group also would like to undertake functions of "policeman" in the market - on the rights of former monopoly it is going to control the accompanying documentation on the diamonds arrived to Antwerp.

For many African countries, which in 30th years had become free of colonialism, diamond fields are the main thing, if not the only thing, a source of incomes. Not casually conflicts in Sierra Leone, Angola, Congo, Liberia had inflamed because of the control over diamond mines.

The analysis of Antwerp's transactions had helped to complete the picture of penetration "bloody diamonds" in market. The scale of contraband amazes imagination. For example, the official information - Liberia makes in one year 100 - 150 thousand carats. However, in the Belgian market only for five years (1994-1998) had registered 31 million carats of diamonds of Liberian origin (app. 6 million carats every year!). The official mining of diamonds in Sierra Leone in 1998 had made 8,5 thousand carats, and in Antwerp in the same year had registered 770 thousand carats of Sierra Leone's diamonds.

In Sierra Leone the official government doesn't control mines of a southeast of the country - all of them maintain by insurgents from Revolutionary incorporated front which "had become famous" for terrorize local residents with chopping off them a brush of hands. How is it possible to stop the contraband?

Richard Hoobrooke, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, having accused a peace-making contingent in Sierra Leone (about 3 thousand people) in an inefficiency, had demanded to define what equipment is necessary for blue helmets to beat off diamond mines at Revolutionary incorporated front. However, the other way of struggle - the creation of effective system of certification of diamonds - results only in funny things.

What could we do with the jewelry made of 10-20 diamonds certified by professional experts? For example, the diamond necklace will require up to 30 certificates, so the necklace's price will rise greatly.

Besides in the world no more than five experts are able to define absolutely precisely by the diamond a place of its mining. Four of these experts work at De Beers. At present days the license for trade in diamonds in Antwerp is given out by the Belgian Diamond High Council (HRD), - this is some kind of the trading guild that closely connected with De Beers.

Its representatives refuse contraband's diamonds - they said that these diamonds had acted in the Belgian market from a small number of private dealers. So why criticize De Beers?

The cause is the diamonds pricing. In fact, De Beers instantly bought up diamonds of unknown origin to not admit a collapse of the market. Thus, De Beers had "choked" because of "swallowing" of unknown origin diamonds when the world community had started talking about ethical aspects of business.

But the cause is the not only in ethical aspects. The diamond market is a colossus on clay legs. So, it is enough an easy whiff of a wind to stagger them: only 3 % of demand reduction means losses in 1,6 billion dollars.

Nowadays many experts expect that outsiders desire of changing trade structure of the market to own advantage stands behind attacks to De Beers. The Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs had accused Canada of attempts to disorganize the Belgian diamond industry several months ago. The matter is that Ottawa is going to mine diamond fields of its Northwest territory which surpass African resources and "are not blood diamonds".

De Beers had announced that it is going to lower the huge diamond resources (up to 5 billion dollars), and it had promised to achieve a full transparency of diamond business. Nowadays a large-scale advertising campaign is planned to support interest in diamonds. Thus, it is created the impression that the elected strategy is providing transition from the control over the market of rough diamonds to domination in the market of cut diamonds.

However, many experts are sure that De Beers is cunning. The world's famous monopolies (De Beers Group controls 60% of the world market of rough diamonds) don't die suddenly. The company just wants to wash away the accusations that its business had involved in African blood.

Exploring the Beauty of Multi-Strand Jewelry

When it comes to jewelry, layering is a popular trend that has remained in style for years. Whether it's a necklace or multi-strand bracelet, the look of layers can provide a bold presence. If you're in the market for multi-strand jewelry, sterling silver remains one of the most affordable options for getting a beautiful design without breaking your budget.

In terms of jewelry, the term 'multi-strand' can be used to describe a variety of styles. The classic definition would be one that incorporates varying lengths to give the appearance of a layered look. For instance, a multi-strand necklace could feature a 16", 17" and 18" chain so as to give the illusion that three different necklaces are being worn when, in actuality, the wearer has only one. Depending on the style that you prefer, you can choose from a simple 2-3 strand necklace up to designs that feature 20 strands or more.

The 'bib' or 'drape' necklace, another popular term used to describe multi-strand jewelry, often features multiple smaller chains created to gracefully accent the neckline using a cascading combination of loops and drops. Because of the intricate styling and workmanship, these necklaces remain highly sought after and can easily be worn in a formal setting. At the same time, these popular styles can be worn casually with your favorite pair of jeans.

When choosing which type of multi-strand necklace to wear, a significant part of the deciding factors will be based on the shirt that is being worn. For instance, a turtleneck will typically require an 18" or longer necklace. An open neckline, such as that found on a v-neck, square neck or even a button-up shirt will accommodate any length of necklace that can be comfortably worn and easily seen.

In addition to necklaces, multi-strand designs are also a popular style in bracelets. The movement of flowing chains combined with the width created by using multiple strands will provide a flattering and bold look. Depending on the weight of the piece, it may be accented with an oversized spring-ring or even a toggle clasp. These accents are designed to be especially large to provide a focal point for a bracelet or necklace. In many cases, these findings are perfect for a larger multi-strand design.

If you are in the market for multi-strand jewelry, sterling silver can provide you with an impressive look at an affordable price. Because it ranges from 2.5 to 2.7 on the scale of hardness, it is stronger than some types of gold. As you can see, sterling silver is both durable and can allow for a larger jewelry collection at a more feasible cost.

When shopping for multi-strand jewelry online, look for a retailer who specializes in your precious metal of choice for the best selection. If sterling silver is your favorite, you may even be able to find additional styles that will catch your eye. And best of all, you won't have to spend a fortune to get an impressive jewelry collection, but it will certainly look as though you did.

How Jewelry Can Help With Charity

Jewelry is a common fashion item, worn by men, women and children alike regardless of social status. It is used for adornment and as a show of wealth or position around the globe. It is produced in thousands of tonnes every year, ranging from simple beaded jewelry to expensive and intricate gold pieces. It makes a statement about the wearer, and was as much a part of society in ancient times as it is in modern living.

However, recent trends towards the environment and economical situations worldwide have enabled jewelry to be used in a much more important way than mere investment or adornment. It is now being used to assist good causes and aid charities with funding.

The concept of charity is long established in the fashion industry, and now there is an influx of similar events around jewelry design, manufacture and production. Charity jewelry is a fantastic choice for many reasons. The obvious reason is that it raises money for a good cause. However, on another note it is often designed by famous designers at a fraction of the cost. It is often limited edition or unique in design, with each piece being hand made. It is a beautiful gift but has the added value of aiding a good cause. In time, the piece will become collectable.

One way in which jewelry is helping good causes is through charity events such as fashion shows. These fundraiser shows support specific causes with a donation of sales going to the named charity. Other features include famous designers providing designs for free to attract interest, or other famous names donating pieces to jewelry auctions with the funds donated.

Awareness jewelry is also a popular approach, with all major charities such as cancer research selling pin badges, ribbons and charity bands for small donations.

Another way in which jewelry is helping charities is through non profit charity organisations. These organisations encourage communities in need of financial assistance to create jewelry based on attainable natural resources including seeds, wood and semi precious stones such as jade. This enables communities in need to raise money which can be invested in areas that require urgent funding.

One such example is Uniteforsight based in Africa. This charity supports rural villages and refugee camps by selling their handmade jewelry over the internet with the money that is raised funding their own eye care expenses. Other examples include organisations which work globally to rebuild lives of children and women at risk. The products are made by the people that receive the funds, creating employment and money raising opportunities.

Fair trade is a recognised organisation which is backed by the world leaders of the richest countries. They ensure that the jewelry they sell contains materials that respect conservation areas, that products replanted where possible and that any hazardous waste materials are disposed of correctly. This aids regeneration whilst ascertaining fair prices and employment for third world producers of jewelry and materials. There are 40,000 traders in America alone producing fair trade products, which include linens, food and jewelry. Products can be bought on the high street and are available also online for better marketing and availability.

Jewelry makers are also looking at the resources used. Precious metals are limited and so the amount released for the purpose of jewelry making is monitored yearly. It is environmentally safe as it is recycled as heirlooms and collectables. This means that jewelry is not destroying the earth supplies. Mining is safer for workers and the environment in modern day also. Another popular trend is to use natural and sustainable ingredients such as seeds, wood and semi precious stones, with recycled packaging.

How to Turn Your Sterling Silver Jewelry Into Cash

When it comes to jewelry, women love to add new pieces to their collection. In some cases, this means out with the old and in with the new. If you own some sterling silver jewelry that simply has gone out of style, you don't wear as much as you thought you might or you just want the extra cash to put toward new pieces, you will be glad to know that there are plenty of ways to turn your sterling silver jewelry into cash.

Thanks to the internet, the options are virtually limitless as to how one could sell their jewelry. One of the quickest ways to earn cash for your collection is to place it up for bids at an online auction and allow other collectors to place bids. You will have the option of either starting your auction at a low opening bid, setting a reserve price that buyers must meet in order to win the auction or even set a fixed price that will allow your item to be purchased immediately. If you plan to list your jewelry at an online auction, make sure that you get a quality photo using either a computer scanner or digital camera.

For those who don't want to wait for their cash, it may be possible to sell your collection to a local jeweler. Many small businesses advertise their desire to purchase fine jewelry and/or gemstones, but be ready to negotiate on the price. Depending on the business, you may get less than your jewelry is actually worth. Unlike a pawn shop, however, local jewelers who buy private collections will likely pay more than 'scrap' prices.

If you prefer to sell your jewelry locally but don't have a jeweler in your area who's in the market to buy private collections, consider advertising your jewelry in the local classifieds. To be safe, you may want to print your cellular phone number or possibly an e-mail address for inquiries as opposed to your home phone. If you have an interested buyer, meet in a public place to allow him/her to view the jewelry and make the purchase. In any transaction, it's often recommended that sellers accept only cash or money orders, especially if the amount of the sell is significant. In order to prevent confusion, it's a good idea to discuss payment options with the buyer beforehand.

Now that you know how to turn your existing sterling silver jewelry into cash, you can start thinking about the new pieces that you want to purchase. Every woman likes to spruce up her wardrobe, whether it be clothing or jewelry, on occasion. If you're looking for a new collection, consider shopping online for a large selection and competitive prices that you may not necessarily find at your local jeweler. From earrings and rings to anklets, necklaces and bracelets, you are sure to find something to suit your style and budget. Not only can you sell your jewelry online, but you can also find some of the best deals and discounts with the click of a mouse.

Tips For Buying Princess Cut Diamonds

Israel Itzkowitz of Ambar Diamonds created the princess cut diamond in 1979. Three years of research went into the design to create a new faceted diamond that had similar optical properties to the round brilliant cut diamond. It is now the second most popular diamond cut shape only exceeded by the round brilliant cut.

The overall shape of the diamond is a square or rectangle with the top of the diamond cut into a square shape and the body of the diamond is similar in shape to a payramid. The princess cut is usually less expensive than the round brilliant cut because not as much of the dimaond needs to be cut away to get the desired finished shape. The ability to retain more of the crystal weight makes this shape popular amongst diamond cutters. The diameter of the princess diamond is usually smaller than that of a round diamond with the same carat weight, and the length is usually longer than that of a round cut. Some of the brilliance is sacrafice in order to have this unique square shape.

Tastes may vary but the minimum recommendations for buying a princess cut diamond are as follows:

Cut should be Very Good.

Color should be G or better.

Clarity of the diamond should be VS2 or better.

Percentage of depth to width needs to be 58 to 80 percent.

Princess cut diamonds are considered brilliant-style shaped because this particular cut takes advantage of the light with their vertically angled crown and tent-like facets, by bouncing the light around within the diamond. Princess-cut stones sparkle more than ordinary square-cut diamonds and after seeing one it's easy to understand why they call it brilliant cut.

When a diamond crystal is being examined the gem cutters try to determine the cut that will allow for not only the best look but also the best profit margin, after all they are businesspeople as well as artists. The carat weight yield of a princess-cut diamond can be as high as 62% higher than that of a round cut counterpart. It is not uncommon for both of these cuts to be cut from one single crystal. The rough diamond is simply sliced in half through the middle and one half will be come a princess cut and the other a round cut. It is also easer for natural flaws to be hidden in the uncut corners of the princess cut diamond.

Flaws or inclusions are small bubbles of gas, liquid or other impurities that were caught inside the diamond crystal during its formation and are quite common. The uncut corners of the diamond are usually hidden by the four-prong used to hold the diamond in the setting of the jewelry. Although you may not be able to see these flaws, the flaws are week points and proper care must still be taken to protect the diamond from becoming chipped or even cracked.

If you love the fire of the traditional round brilliant cut but want something a little different, you might just fall in love with the icy fire of the princess cut. Since it was designed to get the maximum brilliance from a square cut you will get a little more carat weight for your money.

5 Important Tips to Caring for Gemstone Jewelry

Many women love to add a touch of color to their wardrobe, and there is no better way to do so than with gemstone jewelry. By definition, a gemstone is a mineral or stone suitable for use in jewelry after having been cut and polished. Available in virtually every color imaginable, gemstones can add the perfect compliment to your favorite pieces of jewelry. Below are five tips to caring for both precious and semi-precious gemstone jewelry:

* Amethyst jewelry should be stored out of direct sunlight. Why? Believe it or not, this beautiful gemstone can actually fade if exposed to the sun for long periods of time. Therefore, it's advisable that you store your amethyst jewelry in a gift box, jewelry case or other dark space in order to help retain its vibrant coloration.

* When cleaning gemstone jewelry, consider a homemade remedy to help keep your accessories shining. A combination of soap and water can cleanse most gemstones safely, and may be less harsh than commercial jewelry cleaners.

* As you clean your gemstone jewelry, pay close attention to the utensil(s) that you choose. Avoid any brush or other product that features bristles, which may scratch the surface of your gemstone. Instead, use a soft cloth that has no rough areas which could potentially damage the stone.

* Before using any type of commercial jewelry cleaning product, always pay close attention to the directions. The reason is because not all cleaners are safe for all gemstones and, in order to maintain the beauty of your jewelry, it's important to carefully read the instructions. Whether you are removing tarnish from your sterling silver gemstone jewelry or simply adding a little shine to your collection, always follow the manufacturer's instructions and consider alternative methods for cleaning your jewelry if necessary.

* When storing gemstone jewelry, make sure to place it in such a way that it will not easily come into contact with other pieces from your collection. Why? If your jewelry were to get tumbled around, the gemstones could be scratched or even broken. Many natural gemstones are durable, but they can still be scratched and even damaged if not properly cared for. If you want to ensure the protection of your jewelry, store each piece in a small zip-tight jewelry bag when it is not being worn. If you are a wearer of sterling silver, this storage method will also help to slow the tarnishing process.

Now that you know how to care for your gemstone jewelry, it's important to know where to find the greatest deals. Many fantastic bargains can be found online, and especially if you know where to shop. Online retailers often grant coupons, shipping discounts and even sale prices to virtual visitors who browse their internet shop. If you're in the market for a new piece of gemstone jewelry, consider choosing a retailer who specializes in your metal of choice. If you are a sterling silver wearer, for instance, look for a business that caters to those who enjoy the beauty of this precious and affordable metal. With this approach, you are sure to find the best selection and plenty of colors to suit your style.
